Colleen Abel is the author of Remake, winner of Unicorn Press’ Editors Prize, and two chapbooks of poetry: Housewifery and Deviants, a hybrid chapbook that won Sundress Publications Chapbook Poetry Prize. A former Diane Middlebrook Poetry Fellow at UW-Madison, she has also received fellowships from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Ragdale, KHN Center for the Arts, and others. Most recently, she was named a 2023 Illinois Arts Council Fellow in Prose. Her work has appeared in The Southern Review, Cincinnati Review, The Journal, The Stinging Fly, Colorado Review, and LitHub, as well as in several anthologies devoted to disabled writers. She is the editor-in-chief of Bluestem magazine and teaches at Eastern Illinois University.
